Today’s “Word of the Day” is subordination and it is a noun meaning “submission, dependence, compliance, conformity, obedience; surrender, yielding, capitulation; lowliness, servitude, subjection”.
Example Sentence: The Chief Justice of India (CJI), Justice N.V. Ramana, must be lauded for his candid appraisal recently of the pathetic state of India’s investigating agencies. Last week in Delhi, while delivering the annual (and the 19th edition) D.P. Kohli Memorial Talk organised by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the CJI minced no words in condemning the utter subordination of agencies to the executive and its disastrous consequences for the cause of justice.
