Today’s “Word of the Day” is “invidious“ and it is an adjective meaning “unfair, unjust, inequitable, prejudicial, discriminatory, one-sided, objectionable, awkward, undesirable, unpleasant”.
Example Sentence: It would be invidious to characterise Sheikh Hasina’s ouster as a victory for ‘democratic forces’. No doubt, it has some of the characteristics of the ‘Prague Spring’ that rocked Czechoslovakia in the mid-20th century, but the world does not have to be reminded of how the revolt was snuffed out within a short time frame. There may be no equivalent of the ‘Warsaw Pact Powers’ (which ended the Prague students’ revolt) on the horizon in Bangladesh as of now.
