Today’s “Word of the Day” is “imbecilic” and it is an adjective meaning “(very or extremely) stupid, foolish, silly, mindless, unwise, inappropriate”.

Example Sentence: After the rout (crushing defeat), the recriminations (counter-accusations). British fingers furiously jab at (criticize) the Americans for a shaming scuttle (run hurriedly) from Kabul that will embolden (give courage to) the west’s adversaries. Sir John Major yesterday called the withdrawal of western forces a “strategically very stupid” decision. Tony Blair, the prime minister who sent British forces into Afghanistan 20 years ago, goes so far as to call the precipitous (hasty, heedless/reckless) exit “imbecilic”.
