Today’s “Word of the Day” is “exponent“ and it is a noun meaning “a person who supports an idea, theory, etc. and persuades others of its value; supporter, proponent, advocate, upholder, backer, defender, champion, true believer; a person who performs a particular activity skillfully; practitioner, presenter”.
Example Sentence: Jawaharlal Nehru was a skilled exponent of soft power, much before the term was even coined: he developed a role for India in the world based entirely on its civilisational history and its moral standing, making India the voice of the oppressed and the marginalised against the big power hegemons (supreme leaders) of the day.
