Today’s “Word of the Day” is “erudition“ and it is a noun meaning “great academic knowledge gained through reading and studying; academic attainment, learning, education, intellect, enlightenment, illumination, edification, insight, wisdom”.
Example Sentence: We often get too emotionally attached to our stories, thus coloring our understanding. Instead of lessons, we seek pride and shame. Such attitude helps politics, not erudition. And that brings us back to the pin we dropped at the beginning. Why study history? Because it has lessons.
