Today’s “Word of the Day” is corroborate and it is a verb meaning “confirm, endorse, ratify, authenticate, validate, certify, justify; support, back, uphold, substantiate, vouch for”.
Example Sentence: G.K. Chesterton, the writer, asserted in The Flying Inn (1914): “The rich are the scum (very bad/worst people) of the earth in every country”. Perhaps not all but many. Our contention (claim) is that their selfishness, criminality and corruption aggravate (increase/make worse) inequality. Much experimental evidence corroborates this hypothesis (view/logic).
