Today’s “Word of the Day” is “buy into” and it is a phrasal verb meaning “accept, agree, acknowledge, accede, recognize something (a point, argument, narrative or etc.) as a valid one”.
Example Sentence: The notion that Brexit entailed Britain turning its back on the European continent altogether was always more rhetorical bluster (empty talk/humbug) than the reality of British foreign and security policy, but there were still plenty of experts and politicians who bought into this narrative. Among them were many continental European policymaking elites who gave up on (stopped having faith in) Britain as a reliable, or even interested, partner.
