  1. pandemic (noun) – the worldwide spread of a new disease; The illness spreads around the world and typically affects a large number of people across a wide area.
  2. chamber (noun) – one of the houses of a Parliament/Legislative Assembly.
  3. social/physical distancing (noun) – a term means actively avoiding crowded public places, is a key element in decreasing the rapid spread of COVID-19. This is an effort intended to limit exposure by reducing face-to-face contact and preventing spread among people in community settings.
  4. necessitate (verb) – require, need, demand.
  5. gallery (noun) – balcony.
  6. disinfect (verb) – sanitize, clean, cleanse.
  7. presiding officer (noun) – The Speaker (of the Parliament/Legislative Assembly).
  8. trial run (noun) – a preliminary test in which a procedure is tried to see whether it works correctly.
  9. huddle together (verb) – group, gather, cluster.
  10. aloud (adverb) – loudly.
  11. deliberate (verb) – engage in, discuss something (often carefully for a lengthy period of time).
  12. Question Hour (noun) – Question Hour is the liveliest hour in Parliament and it is taken up from 1100hrs to 1200 hrs in every sitting. It is during this one hour that Members of Parliament ask questions of ministers and hold them accountable for the functioning of their ministries. The questions that MPs ask are designed to elicit (bring out) information and trigger suitable action by ministries.

  47. PM CARES Fund (noun) – The Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund was created on 28 March 2020, following the COVID-19 pandemic in India. The fund will be used for combating, and containment and relief efforts against the coronavirus outbreak and similar pandemic like situations in the future.
