  1. roiling (adjective) – churning, turbulent, stormy, unsettled, unstable.
  2. resurgence (noun) –  recovery, revival, rebound, resurrection, renaissance, re-emergence.
  3. consumer price index (CPI) (noun) – a monthly measurement of prices for most household goods and services.
  4. index (noun) – an (economic) data figure reflecting something (e.g. price/quantity) compared with a standard or base value; pointer, indicator.
  5. tame (verb) – control, curb, mitigate, moderate.
  6. inflation (noun) – simply meaning “cost of living”; increase of price level of goods & services and vice versa decrease of currency value.
  7. unravel (noun) – fall apart, fail, collapse, go wrong, founder, be unsuccessful, fall through.
  8. Retail inflation or Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation (noun) – The change in the price index of the basket of consumer goods and services over a period of time is referred to as CPI-based inflation or retail inflation.
  9. monetary authority (noun) – it refers to the institution responsible for managing the currency of a country, establishing interest rates, and controlling its money supply. The goals of a country’s central bank include stabilizing prices, fostering economic growth, and increasing employment. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is the central bank of India.

  20. beverage (noun) – a drink, such as tea, coffee, liquor, beer, milk, juice, or soft drinks, usually excluding water.
  21. constituent (noun) – component, element, ingredient, part.
  22. weight (noun) – larger number, bulk, lion’s share.
  23. quicken (verb) – accelerate, speed up, step up.
  24. basis point (BPS) (noun) – a unit of measure used in finance to describe the percentage change in the value or rate of a financial instrument. One basis point is equivalent to 0.01% (1/100th of a percent). Used for measuring change in interest rate/yield.
  25. food price inflation (noun) – the rise in the prices of most goods and services of food & related things.
  26. broad-based (adjective) – wide-ranging, comprehensive, all-inclusive, general.
  27. witness (verb) – indicate, show, reveal, confirm, be evidence/proof of.
  28. year-on-year (adjective) – year over year (for comparison).
  29. cereal (noun) – a grain or plants that produce it  (for example-wheat, maize, rice & etc.).
  30. price gain (noun) – a general increase in the price of something.
  31. log (verb)  – achieve, attain; register, record.
  32. dairy (adjective) – relating to the products made from milk.
  33. pulses (noun) – edible seeds (chickpeas, lentils, beans). (dals).
  34. spice (noun) – aromatic vegetable products (e.g. pepper) used to season/flavor foods.
  35. basket (noun) – a group of something (taxes, investments, commodities, etc.).
  36. disinflation (noun) – decrease in the rate of inflation.
  37. harden (verb) – (of price of something) rise, increase (and be firm at a higher level).
  38. narrow (verb) – diminish, decrease, reduce.
  39. soar (verb) – rise, increase (rapidly).
  40. sequential (adjective) – happened in sequence/order/succession.
  41. culprit (noun) – the reason/cause of a problem.
  42. skyrocket (verb) – rise, increase, escalate, mount; mushroom, snowball.
  43. quickening (noun) – increase, acceleration, stepping up.
  44. notwithstanding (preposition) – despite, in spite of, regardless of.
  45. base (noun) – a number used as the basis.
  46. Inflationary/price pressures (noun) – the demand and supply-side pressures that can cause a rise in the general price level; cost-push inflation, hot-economy, deficit finance.
  47. disconcerting (adjective) – upsetting, discomfiting, unsettling, disturbing, disquieting, troubling.
  48. momentum (noun) – the increase in the rate of growth of something; strength, impetus.
  49. core inflation (noun) – it is a measure of the total inflation within an economy, excluding commodities such as food and energy prices (which change frequently).
  50. headline inflation (noun) – it is a measure of the total inflation within an economy, including commodities such as food and energy prices. 
  51. pace (noun) – rate, speed.
  52. backdrop (noun) – situation, scenario, context.
  53. erratic (adjective) – patchy, irregular, fluctuating, uneven.
  54. outlook (noun) – chances, possibilities, expectations, prospects, future.
  55. kharif sowing/crops (noun) – monsoon crops; seeds sowing in the beginning (Jun) of the monsoon and harvesting at the end of the season (Oct) in the South Asia.
  56. rabi sowing/crops (noun) – winter crops; seeds sowing in the beginning (Nov) of the winter and harvesting at the end of the season (Apr) in the South Asia.
  57. crop (noun) – a plant that can be grown and harvested extensively for profit or subsistence.
  58. sowing (noun) – an act of seeding a plant or crop.
  59. shortfall (noun) – deficit, inadequacy/deficiency; shortcoming/defect.
  60. bridge (verb) – make a difference between two less significant.
  61. staple (noun) – a main item of  production; main item; important element (of something).
  62. reflect (verb) – indicate, show, display, demonstrate, reveal, exhibit.
  63. hard-won (adjective) – achieved/gained only after a lot of effort.
  64. anchor (verb) – secure, fasten, attach, connect firmly.
  65. tighten (verb) – make stricter, make more rigorous, make more stringent, stiffen, toughen.
  66. grip (noun) – control, stranglehold, domination (over something).
  67. tighten your grip on something (phrase) – start to control something more strictly.
