- norm (noun) – standard, convention, regulation.
- liberalised (adjective) – relating to something (regulations/norms) less strict/more freedom.
- flee (verb) – escape, abscond, run away/take flight.
- foreign portfolio investments (FPIs) (noun) – investments in financial assets, such as shares, government bonds, corporate bonds, convertible securities, infrastructure securities etc in a foreign country.
- slew of (noun) – a large number of, lot, range.
- do away with (phrasal verb) – abolish, eliminate, remove.
- criterion (noun) – basis, standard, norm. (criteria is the plural form of criterion).
- off-market (adjective) – relating to a deal settled between two parties on mutually agreed terms and it is not made in a way with the stock exchange involvement.
- bypass (verb) – circumvent, avoid, dodge.

- persistent (adjective) – continuing, constant/continuous, steady.
- overreach (noun) – an act of trying to do too much.
- nimble (adjective) – quick, active/fast, quick-thinking/skilful.
- flip-flop (noun) – a sudden reversal of something, particularly a policy/plan.
