  1. inflation (noun) – simply meaning “cost of living”; increase of price level of goods & services and vice versa decrease of currency value.
  2. depressed (adjective) – weakened, impaired, debilitated, distressed, sluggish.
  3. cause for disquiet (phrase) – reason to worry.
  4. disquiet (noun) – distress, worry, concern.
  5. pandemic-hit (adjective) – affected by pandemic.
  6. accelerating (adjective) – increasing, rising, surging, escalating.
  7. headline retail inflation (noun) – it is a measure of the total inflation within an economy, including commodities such as food and energy prices. The CPI monitors retail prices at a certain level for a particular commodity. The change in the price index over a period of time is referred to as CPI-based inflation, or retail inflation.

  56. rate cut (noun) – a decision by a central bank (like RBI in India) to reduce its main interest rate to the banks (like SBI, ICICI & etc in India) when these commercial banks get money from the central bank. Once this rate goes down, the banks are in a position to give loans at lower interest rates to individuals and the industry.
  57. revive (verb) – recover, regain, restore, improve.
  58. fan (verb) – intensify, increase, exacerbate, stimulate.
  59. stagflation (noun) – it is a combination of stagnant or slow economic growth, high unemployment and high inflation.
