- excellence (noun) – a measurement of an individual’s progress and growth; skill, talent, merit, brilliance.
- diversity (noun) – existence/presence of different people (from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives ranging from race to age to gender to hometown to educational experience) within group; variety, variance, difference.
- scrap (verb) – discard, remove, dispense with, eliminate.
- reservation (noun) – a system of affirmative action in India that provides historically disadvantaged groups representation in education, employment and politics.
- universal education (noun) – the ability of all people to have equal opportunity in education, regardless of their social class, race, gender, sexuality, ethnicity background, or physical and mental disabilities. According to United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), getting every child in school and learning is essential to reducing global poverty, improving health, fostering peace, bolstering democracy, improving environmental sustainability and increasing gender equality.
- affirmative action (noun) – it means positive steps taken to increase the representation of (women and) minorities in areas of employment, education, and culture from which they have been historically excluded.

The 10 government ones would also receive special funding. The institutes with the status of eminence will get greater autonomy to start new courses, admit foreign students, hire foreign faculty, and collaborate with foreign educational institutions without the need for government approval.
