- Prime Minister Wi-Fi Access Network Interface (PM-WANI) scheme (noun) – a proposal/scheme for setting up public WiFi hotspots across the country via public data offices or PDOs, which could even be a kirana shop or a paan shop. The move, aimed at helping accelerate the uptake of broadband Internet services, will not require the PDOs to get a license or pay a fee.

- telephony (noun) – the operation/use of telephones.
- Subscriber Trunk Dialling (STD) (noun) – a telephone system allowing subscribers to dial trunk calls without operator assistance. The term was introduced when it first became possible for long-distance calls to be dialled directly.
