- consent (noun) – approval, agreement, assent, concurrence, acceptance.
- The Draft PG medical education regulations 2021 (noun) – the draft postgraduate medical education regulations 2021, which is published by National Medical Commission (NMC) envisions 100% central allotment for state medical seats. The draft states that there shall be common admission counselling for all medical educational institutions to all postgraduate broad-specialty courses (Diploma/ MD/ MS) on the basis of the National Exit Test (NEXT), and postgraduate super-specialty courses (DM/MCh) on the basis of National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET).

- National Medical Commission (NMC) (noun) – The National Medical Commission (NMC) has been constituted by an act of Parliament known as National Medical Commission Act, 2019 which came into force on 25.9.2020. It is an Indian regulatory body of 33 members which regulates medical education and medical professionals. It replaced the erstwhile Medical Council of India constituted under section 3A of the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956.
- National Exit Test (NEXT) (noun) – The NEXT, a common exit exam envisaged by the government to standardize medical education across the country, was proposed by NMC as a part of the bill passed in the year 2019. The exam is set to replace the NEET PG and FMGE exams.
- All-India Quota (AIQ) (noun) – The All India Quota (AIQ) Scheme was introduced in 1986 under the directions of the Hon’ble Supreme Court to provide for domicile-free merit based opportunities to students from any State to aspire to study in a good medical college located in another State. All India Quota consists of 15% of total available UG seats and 50% of total available PG seats in government medical colleges. Initially, there was no reservation in AIQ Scheme up to 2007. In 2007, the Hon’ble Supreme Court introduced reservation of 15% for SCs and 7.5% for STs in the AIQ Scheme.
