- inflation (noun) – simply meaning “cost of living”; increase of price level of goods & services and vice versa decrease of currency value.
- erode (verb) – (gradually) undermine, weaken, spoil, deteriorate, destroy.
- purchasing power (noun) – the ability to buy something (goods/services).
- pace (noun) – rate, speed.
- Retail or Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation (noun) – The change in the price index of the basket of consumer goods and services over a period of time is referred to as CPI-based inflation or retail inflation.
- Wholesale or Wholesale price Index (WPI) inflation (noun) – The change in the price index of the basket of wholesale goods (and no services) over a period of time is referred to as WPI-based inflation or wholesale inflation.
- propel (verb) – prompt, drive, spur, impel, force.
- largely (adverb) – mostly, mainly, generally.
- elevated (adjective) – increased, raised.
- year-on-year (adjective) – year over year (for comparison).
- price gain (noun) – a general increase in the price of something.
- print (noun) – mark.
- headline inflation (noun) – it is a measure of the total inflation within an economy, including commodities such as food and energy prices.

- tightening (noun) – an act of making something stricter/rigorous.
- month-on-month (adjective) – used to compare data for one month with that in previous months.
- provisional (adjective) – temporary, short-term, interim, transitional.
- Consumer Price Index (CPI) (noun) – The CPI looks at the basket of consumer goods and services and it measures the change in price of this basket over a period of time. To put it simply, the CPI monitors retail prices at a certain level for a particular commodity.
- sequential (adjective) – happened in sequence/order/succession.
- reading (noun) – figure, indication, record, measurement.
- deceleration (noun) – slowing down, easing off, reduction, diminishing, lessening.
- basis point (BPS) (noun) – a unit of measure used in finance to describe the percentage change in the value or rate of a financial instrument. One basis point is equivalent to 0.01% (1/100th of a percent). Used for measuring change in interest rate/yield.
- easing (noun) – reduction, lessening, decrease, moderation.
- deflation (noun) – a decrease in the general price level of goods and services.
- cereal (noun) – a grain or plants that produce it (for example-wheat, maize, rice & etc.).
- weight (noun) – larger number, bulk, lion’s share.

- moderation (noun) – reduction, lessening, decrease, easing.
- beverage (noun) – a drink, such as tea, coffee, liquor, beer, milk, juice, or soft drinks, usually excluding water.
- account for (phrasal verb) – constitute, make up, comprise, form, compose, represent.
- witness (verb) – indicate, show, reveal, confirm, be evidence/proof of.
- pulses (noun) – edible seeds (chickpeas, lentils, beans). (dals).
- appreciable (adjective) – considerable, substantial, significant, sizeable.
- acceleration (noun) – increase, quickening, stepping up.
- deflate (verb) – reduce, slow down, lessen price levels in (an economy).
- log (verb) – achieve, attain; register, record.
- dairy (adjective) – relating to the products made from milk.
- of concern (phrase) – If something is of concern, then it is worrying & unsatisfactory.
- hover (verb) – remain at a level.
- sequentially (adverb) – in succession, successively, continuously.
- disconcerting (adjective) – discomfiting, unsettling, disturbing, troubling.
- clip (noun) – rate, speed, pace.
- acknowledge (verb) – accept, recognize, realize.
- sensitivity (noun) – responsiveness, vulnerability, reactivity, susceptibility.
- due (adjective) – expected, anticipated, scheduled for.
- household (noun) – family, house.
- perception (noun) – understanding, discernment, recognition/realization; interpretation.

- forecast (noun) – prediction, indication, projection, calculation, speculation, prognosis (of future events or trends).

- have one’s task cut out (phrase) – be faced with a tough task/work to do; faced with a lot of hard work to accomplish something.
