  1. menace (noun) – threat, danger, risk/peril.
  2. viable (adjective) – feasible, practical, realistic.
  3. ail (verb) – trouble, bother, burden/afflict.
  4. non-performing asset (NPA) (noun) – an account where principal and/or interest remains overdue for a period of time; stressed asset.
  5. deteriorate (verb) – worsen, get worse, decline.
  6. turn the corner (phrase) – improve, get better, pick up.
  7. undertake (verb) – begin, start, embark on.
  8. bankruptcy (noun) – legal state of insolvency. An individual or organisation is declared bankrupt if a court judges that the party involved can no longer meet debt payments to creditors. it is defined as the outcome of a legal procedure.
  9. insolvency (noun) – a condition in which the financial difficulties of an individual or organisation are such it is unable to pay its debts.
  10. imperfection (noun) – defect, fault, shortcoming.
  11. recapitalisation (noun) – it is a type of corporate reorganization involving substantial change in a company’s capital structure, especially by replacing debt with stock.
  12. capital cushion (noun) – capital buffer; necessary capital that financial institutions are required to hold in addition to other minimum capital requirements.
  13. induce (verb) – persuade, convince, prompt/encourage.
  14. debt (noun) – liability, financial obligation, borrowed capital.
  15. rein in (verb) – restrict, control, regulate.
  16. reckless (adjective) – careless, thoughtless, incautious.
