Word List-1 (To improve Vocabulary)

  1. pull out all the stops (phrase) – make a very great effort, try hard, strive (to achieve something).
  2. erosion (noun) – destruction, deterioration, spoiling/weakening.
  3. come to naught (phrase) – fail, founder, be unsuccessful (Naught -US English & Nought-British English).
  4. strenuous (adjective) – difficult, hard/tough, taxing/demanding.
  5. breach (verb) – break, contravene, violate.
  6. assert (verb) – declare, state/announce, claim.
  7. window (noun) – interval, opening, right time/moment.
  8. get at (phrasal verb) – access, gain access to, reach.
  9. remedial (adjective) –  reparative, corrective, restorative.

  16. fallout (noun) – adverse results; repercussions, after-effects.
