Today’s “Phrase of the Day” is “take a leaf out of someone’s book“ and its meaning is “to imitate/follow someone; copy, reproduce, mimic, mirror, echo, model oneself on, take as a model, take as an example”.
Example Sentence: Taking a leaf out of Putin’s book, the Aliyevs, the post-Soviet ruling dynasty in Azerbaijan, have sought to counter international opprobrium (harsh criticism) for their dismal human rights record with pharaonic (overwhelmingly large & luxurious) stadium projects, hosting games at last year’s European football championships and the 2019 Europa League final and using the state oil company to sponsor Uefa and Atlético Madrid.
