Today’s “Phrase of the Day” is “let rip“ and its meaning is “to behave/speak/do something angrily or emotionally (without trying to control oneself)”.

To watch Theresa May let rip in parliament this week – denouncing (criticizing) her successor Boris Johnson’s casual willingness to break international law, with an authority that can come only from having confronted very similar choices – was to realise the advantages conferred (provided) by no longer craving (asking for) other people’s approval.
