Today’s “Phrase of the Day” is “in the first flush of“ and its meaning is “at the starting/beginning of something (new & exciting); in the early time/days of something (new & exciting)”.
Example Sentence: In the first flush of the first lockdown I decided it was my right – no, my duty – to lift my spirits by eating as much junk food as I possibly could. Cakes, muffins; oh my god, so much sausage.
This phrase is present in The Guardian article I coped through the pandemic with a diet of junk food. Now I’m regretting it and click here to read it.
