
Today’s “Phrase of the Day” is hold someone’s feet to the fire and it is a phrase meaning “put pressure on someone to do something, to hold someone accountable, to force someone to obey/follow (your command)”.
Example Sentence: It was suggested some years ago that the Conference of Parties (COP) ensures that Parties iteratively raise their commitments till they add up to the requisite 45% (global emissions) reduction by 2030. But who will hold their feet to the fire?
