Today’s “Phrase of the Day” is “corner the market“ and its meaning is “to obtain enough control of a particular stock or commodity or asset in order to effectively control/manipulate the market price of it”.
Example Sentence: Tesla is valued more than all other major automakers combined. This valuation makes no kind of economic sense. Electric cars are the cars of the future, sure, but every mainstream car maker also has strong plans for going electric. There is no real reason to expect Tesla to corner the market on a scale that would justify its astronomic valuation.
