Word List-2 (To improve Vocabulary)

  1. out of favour (phrase) – unpopular.
  2. bond rout (noun) – a period when markets have deteriorated/suffered significantly on the back of the worst sell-off in sovereign bonds, with a sharp increase in outflows and a burst of volatility in stock markets.
  3. ramp up (phrasal verb) – increase, rise, make larger/add to.
  4. capital inflow (noun) – a steady movement of capital (amount) into a place, economy, activity etc.
  5. Capital outflow (noun) – money/assets flowing out of (or leaving) a particular country’s economy.
  6. spook  (verb) – frighten, appal, shock.
  7. fiscal deficit (noun) – the difference between total expenditure and total income of the government.
  8. desert (verb) – leave, give up, abandon.
  9. tap (verb) – use, utilize, draw a supply from  (a resource).
  10. lacklustre (adjective) – dull; uninspired, uninteresting.
  11. sovereign bonds (noun) – sovereign bonds issued by the government. They can be either local-currency-denominated or denominated in a foreign currency.  they are generally with a promise to pay periodic interest payments and to repay the face value on the maturity date.
  12. inflation (noun) – increase of price level of goods & services & vice versa decrease of currency value.
  13. wary (noun) – cautious, careful, circumspect.
  14. portfolio (noun) –  investments, shares, holdings; a range of products or services.
  15. tailwinds (noun) – (in business) it describes a situation or condition that will move growth, revenues, or profits higher.
  16. Headwinds (noun) – (in business) situations or conditions that make growth harder/difficult.
  17. lucrative (adjective) – profitable; productive; successful.
  18. rally (noun) – recovery, upturn, improvement/rebound.
  19. dip into (verb) – use, make use of, spend from  (one’s financial resources).
  20. profligacy (noun) – wastefulness/expenditure (of resources).
