Word List-2 (To Improve English Vocabulary)

1. inevitable (adjective) – unavoidable, sure to happen, unpreventable.
2. spike (noun) – a sharp increase in importance of something.
3. bond yield (noun) – bond yield  is the annualized percentage return that an investor will obtain from buying a bond. In general, the yield of a bond is inversely proportional to its price. This means that as the yield increases, the price decreases (and vice versa).
4. stagger (verb) – arrange/order something alternatively at intervals.
5. sovereign bonds (noun) – Sovereign bonds are bonds issued by governments.
6. fiscal deficit (noun) – the difference between total expenditure and total income of the government.
7. steeply (adjective) – sharply, suddenly, largely.
8. inch (verb) – move slowly.
9. plead (verb) – claim, assert, allege.

15. regulatory forbearance (noun) – Also known as capital forbearance. The action of regulators refraining from exercising their right to put an insolvent bank out of business or the unwillingness of regulators to take disciplinary action against problem banks.
16. traction (noun) – an idea or a product gains popularity/acceptance.
17. chicanery (noun) – trickery, deception, duplicity/bluff.
18. rosy (adjective) – promising, optimistic, hopeful/favourable.
19. feign (verb) – pretend, fake/sham, affect.
20. heads I win, tails you lose (phrase) – I win whatever happens.
21. dispense (verb) – allot, distribute, disburse/supply.
22. hedge (verb) – safeguard, protect, shield.
23. bid down (verb) – decrease the value.
