1. diversify (verb) – enlarge/expand, widen, branch out.
2. ferment (noun) – furore, agitation, disruption/confusion.
3. a great deal of (phrase) – a lot, a great amount; to a considerable extent.
4. uncertainty (noun) – unpredictability, unreliability, unsureness.
5. Brent crude (noun) – a classification of crude oil produced from the oil platform in the North Sea.

17. put a lid on something (phrase) – to keep something under control; to stop something from increasing.
18. be torn past participle of tear (verb) – torment, torture; be in a state of uncertainty.
19. lucrative (adjective) – profitable, gainful/rewarding, remunerative.
20. volatile (adjective) – unpredictable/unsettled, unsteady, turbulent/tense.
21. renewable energy (noun) – energy generated from the natural resources (such as water, wind, solar energy).
