  1. slippery (noun) – evasive, unreliable, unpredictable.
  2. rally (noun) – recovery, upturn, improvement/rebound.
  3. shale industry (noun) – an industry of mining and processing of oil shale. shale is a fine-grained sedimentary rock in which natural gas is trapped underground.
  4. sustained (adjective) – continuous, uninterrupted, constant.
  5. bull market (noun) – a share/financial market in which share prices are rising (or) are expected to rise over a period of time. A “bull market” is any time period where stocks are going up in value. A “bear market” is the opposite, when stock prices are falling.
  6. Brent crude (noun) – a classification of crude oil produced from the oil platform in the North Sea.
  7. rally (verb) – increase, recover, improve (from a fall).
  8. portend (verb) – augur, foretell; indicate/signal.

  13. nemesis (noun) – arch-rival, adversary, opponent.
  14. fiscal (adjective) – financial, trade; revenue.
  15. inflation (noun) – increase of price level of goods & services & vice versa decrease of currency value.
  16. bound to (adjective) – certain/sure, very likely, guaranteed.
  17. unease (noun) – fright, anxiety, panic, distress.
  18. fluctuate (verb) – vary, differ, shift/change.
  19. range-bound (market) (adjective) – when a market, or the value of a particular stock, bond, commodity or currency, moves within a relatively tight range for a certain period of time.
  20. nonetheless (adverb) – in spite of that, however, regardless/anyway.
