  1. complicit (adjective) – associated/partnered/involved with others, mostly in a wrongful or illegal activity.
  2. come clean (phrase) – tell the truth, be completely honest, tell all, to make a disclosure, confess everything. 
  3. stance (noun) – stand, position, point of view, viewpoint, standpoint, perspective.
  4. transnational (adjective) – involving/relating to two/more countries.
  5. Justice Department (or) The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) (noun) – The United States Department of Justice, also known as the Justice Department, is a federal executive department of the United States government tasked with the enforcement of federal law and administration of justice in the United States.
  6. indictment (noun) – accusation, charge, allegation.
  7. intelligence (noun) – (military/political) information, facts, details, particulars.

Five Eyes (FVEY) (noun) – it is the multilateral intelligence-sharing alliance. The “five” in the 5 Eyes refers to the five Anglophone (English-speaking) countries that Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the UK, and the US. These countries are parties to the multilateral UKUSA Agreement, a treaty for joint cooperation in signals intelligence.
  31. reek of (verb) – be suggestive of something disagreeable/unacceptable or unpleasant.
  32. given (preposition) – considering, taking into account, bearing in mind.
  33. uphold (verb) – confirm, endorse/approve, vindicate/validate.
