  1. regressive (adjective) – returning to a previous, underdeveloped state; in the wrong direction; retrograde, retrogressive, unprogressive/negative.
  2. move (noun) – step, action, activity, measure.
  3. platitude (noun) – a banal (usual/predictable) remark/statement; overworked saying, hackneyed saying, cliché, banality.

However, considering the need for availability of such statistics at more frequent intervals, Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation has launched a regular employment-unemployment survey, namely, ‘Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS)’. The PLFS has been launched from April, 2017 with the objective to provide quarterly changes of various indicators of the labour market for urban areas and the annual estimates of different labour force indicators for both rural and urban areas, at State/UT and all India level.

  28. task force (noun) – a special committee/panel, usually of experts, formed expressly for the purpose of studying a particular problem.

  30. gender violence (noun) – it is a violence directed against a person because of that person’s gender or violence that affects persons of a particular gender disproportionately.

  33. informal sector (noun) – informal economy, grey economy is the part of an economy that is neither taxed, nor monitored by any form of government.
  34. sweeping (adjective) – comprehensive, all-inclusive, all-embracing, far-reaching.
  35. bring in (phrasal verb) – introduce, initiate, institute, put forward, propose, put in place, suggest, submit, present.
  36. harsher comparative adjective of harsh (adjective) – severe, stringent, extreme, strict. 
  37. stringent (adjective) – strict, severe, extreme, rigorous.
  38. National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) (noun) – an Indian government agency responsible for collecting and analysing crime data as defined by the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Special and Local Laws (SLL). NCRB is headquartered in New Delhi and is part of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Government of India.
  39. nearly (adverb) – almost, about, more or less.
  40. first information report (FIR) (noun) – a written document prepared by the police when they receive information  about the commission of a cognizable offence.

  47. gender justice (noun) – It is the full equality and equity between women and men in all spheres of life, resulting in women jointly, and on an equal basis with men, defining and shaping the policies, structures and decisions that affect their lives and society as a whole.
  48. go a long way (phrase) – to be helpful; to be very helpful/useful (to achieve success); will be very successful.
  49. campaign (noun) – an organized effort that seeks to influence the decision-making progress within a specific group; movement, crusade, drive ,push.
  50. reclaim (verb) – get back, recover, regain, retrieve, recoup; rescue, save.
  51. serve as (verb) – act as, function as, do the work of.
  52. wake-up call (noun) – something which alerts a person to a problem and makes him/her to do some remedial action.
