Today’s “Word of the Day” is “precedent” and it is a noun meaning “a past action/event/decision that is seen as an example; previous example, previous instance, prior instance, previous case, example”.
Example Sentence: Precedent would suggest that, despite the (UK) government’s claims, the online safety bill will be shelved or neutered (made ineffective) further in the weeks and months to come. But even if it does somehow end up becoming law, don’t hold your breath for major changes. It doesn’t come close to tackling the issues that online life throws up.
