Today’s “Word of the Day” is “gloss over“ and it is a phrasal verb meaning “ignore, avoid talking about/dealing with something unpleasant and treat it as less important; conceal or cover up a mistake/crime; hide, camouflage, whitewash“.
Example Sentence: The U.S. President Donald Trump failed to develop a national (COVID-19) testing strategy, passed the buck to underfunded and unprotected states and cities, undermined scientific advice and public messaging, promoted quack cures, such as injecting bleach, and mocked crucial social distancing and mask-wearing measures. However ill he is, this saga (series of incidents) of lethal incompetence cannot be glossed over.
