Word of the Day (gerontocratic)-02FEB21

Today’s “Word of the Day” is gerontocratic and it is an adjective meaning “relating to a government, political group, or (social) organisation ruled/controlled by old people.

Example Sentence: International critics of Myanmar’s state counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi have expressed little sympathy for her detention but the hard reality is that she will have to be a part of any negotiated political settlement. Like Myanmar’s armed forces, the National League of Democracy NLD’s gerontocratic leadership has done a terrible job in grooming a new generation of leaders.
