  3. local transmission (cluster) (noun) – local spread/transmission means spread of an illness/disease for which the source of infection is known. An infected person has travel history to an affected area. We could able to identify and trace individual cases, and ring-fence a cluster (of them) to prevent the spread of infection.
  4. certainly (adverb) – surely, definitely, unquestionably.
  5. epidemiologist (noun) – an expert in the study of how disease spreads and can be controlled.
  6. respondent (noun) – a person who replies to something (questionnaire etc,.).

  31. political will (noun) – political intention/desire (to complete a scheme/project even if it is not admired/welcomed in the beginning).
  32. public behaviour (change) (noun) – (in public health) it refers to efforts put in place to change people’s personal habits and attitudes, to prevent disease.

  34. anxious (adjective) – worried, concerned, distressed, bothered.
  35. curfew (noun) – a rule which is instructing people to stay at home, typically at night.
  36. explosion (noun) – sudden increase, rapid increase, multiplication, burgeoning.
  37. put/place the cart before the horse (phrase) – reverse/change the proper order of something.
  38. devote (verb) – allocate, assign/allot, commit, give.
  39. productive (adjective) – useful/helpful, constructive, fruitful, valuable, effective.
  40. prevalence (noun) – it refers to the number of cases of a disease that are present in a particular population at a given time whereas “incidence” refers to the number of new cases that develop in a given period of time.
