  1. ties (noun) – bond, connection, association, relationship, friendship.
  2. tailor (verb) – customize, adapt, adjust, modify, change.
  3. infrastructure (noun) – the basic physical or organisational structure or framework that a country or organization needs in order to function properly. For a whole nation, it includes all the physical systems such as buildings, roads & railways networks, utilities, etc.
  4. take something to the next level (phrase) – to further improve/develop something that is already doing well.
  5. tensions (noun) – strained relations; strain, stress, pressure, unease.
  6. credit facility (noun) – a type of pre-approved loan which allows the borrower to borrow money on an ongoing basis over an extended period of time, rather than applying for a new loan each time the borrower needs more money. 
  7. the U.S. State Department (noun) – it is an executive department of the U.S. federal government responsible for the country’s foreign policy and relations.

The route primarily involves moving freight from India, Iran, Azerbaijan and Russia via ship, rail and road.

Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) (noun) – The Belt and Road Initiative, formerly known as One Belt One Road or OBOR for short, is a global infrastructure development strategy adopted by the Chinese government in 2013 to invest in nearly 71 countries and international organizations.
