- non-performing assets (NPAs) (noun) – bad loans, toxic/ troubled assets; stressed assets/loans; an account where principal and/or interest remains overdue for a period of time.
- magic bullet (noun) – solution, answer; nostrum/remedy.
- take over (phrasal verb) – take control of.
- festering (adjective) – septic; relating to a problem which is becoming worse or more intense due to long time negligence.
- over-leveraged (adjective) – relating to a firm which has taken on too much debt.
- cagey (adjective) – non-committal, tight-lipped; careful/wary.
- overhang (noun) – a situation which is lingering, indecisive and it is also having (a negative effect).
