- nostrum (noun) – scheme, formula, remedy (for social improvement/reform).
- be here to stay (phrase) – be permanent.
- willy-nilly (adverb) – whether one likes it or not; randomly, without planning.
- window (noun) – opportunity, chance.
- far from (phrase) – not, not at all, nowhere near.
- well-intentioned (adjective) – good-natured, caring, good-hearted.
- percentile (noun) – it is a comparison score between a particular score and the scores of the rest of a group. A percentile means the percentage of people below you. If you are a 90%ile person, it means there are 90 percent of people who scored less than you. In other words, if you are a 90%iler then you are in the top 10 percent of the people.
- proponent (noun) – supporter, advocate, upholder.
- moot (adjective) – debatable/arguable, doubtful, controversial.
- inclusive (adjective) – comprehensive, all-encompassing, with everything included.
- lavish (adjective) – abundant, ample, plentiful; expensive/costly.
- spawn (verb) – produce, generate, promote/trigger.
- locale (noun) – place, area (for something special).
- sweatshop (noun) – a place where people are paid low wages for working long hours in poor conditions.
- exorbitant (adjective) – huge, excessively high, unreasonable.
- asymmetry (noun) – non-uniformity, unevenness, lopsidedness.
- out of bounds (phrase) – restricted, forbidden/banned, not permitted.
- there is no escaping the fact (phrase) – something is certain/important.
