Today’s “Phrase of the Day” is “on the horizon“ and it is a phrase meaning “imminent, impending, approaching, coming, on the way, forthcoming, about to happen, in the wings, on the cards, in the pipeline/offing, just around the corner”.
Example Sentence: It would be invidious to characterise Sheikh Hasina’s ouster as a victory for ‘democratic forces’. No doubt, it has some of the characteristics of the ‘Prague Spring’ that rocked Czechoslovakia in the mid-20th century, but the world does not have to be reminded of how the revolt was snuffed out within a short time frame. There may be no equivalent of the ‘Warsaw Pact Powers’ (which ended the Prague students’ revolt) on the horizon in Bangladesh as of now.
