Today’s “Phrase of the Day” is break new ground and it is a phrase meaning “to do something entirely different from what has been done before; do something innovative; pioneer”.
Example Sentence: Covid-19’s destruction of the tourism sector, on which the country (Thailand) is heavily dependent. Protestors demand the prime minister’s resignation and the redrafting of the constitution. But they have also broken new ground by demanding reform of what was previously taboo, thanks to heavy penalties for discussing it: Thailand’s royalty.
