  1. Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) (noun) – a female community health worker instituted by the government of India’s Ministry of Health and Family Welfare as a part of the National Rural Health Mission. The ASHA will be trained to work as an interface between the community and the public health system.
  2. compensation (noun) – payment, remuneration, reimbursement, recompense.
  3. remuneration (noun) – payment, earnings, wages, reward, recompense.
  4. acronym (noun) – a word formed by abbreviating a phrase by combining certain letters of words in the phrase (often the first initial of each) into a single term.

Some are transmitted through bites from insects while others are caused by ingesting contaminated food or water. Neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) (noun) – a diverse group of conditions caused by a variety of pathogens (including viruses, bacteria, parasites, fungi and toxins) and associated with devastating health, social and economic consequences. NTDs are mainly prevalent among impoverished communities in tropical areas, although some have a much larger geographical distribution.

  22. sanitation (noun) – it generally refers to the provision of facilities and services for the  safe disposal of human urine and faeces.

  24. pandemic (noun) – the worldwide spread of a new disease; The illness spreads around the world and typically affects a large number of people across a wide area.
  25. profile (noun) – the level to which a person/organization attracts public attention.
  26. humble (adjective) – respectful, modest, simple, ordinary, unassuming
  27. World Health Organization (WHO) (noun) – Founded in 1948, WHO is the United Nations agency that connects nations, partners and people to promote health, keep the world safe and serve the vulnerable – so everyone, everywhere can attain the highest level of health.
  28. recognise (verb) – reward, honour, show appreciation of, show gratitude to, give recognition to.
  29. outstanding (adjective) – excellent, superb, exceptional, fantastic.

  31. establish (verb) – show, indicate, display, demonstrate.
