  1. governance (noun) – the act of governing something; administration.
  2. Legislative Assembly (noun) – Assembly/Vidhan Sabha; Legislative Assembly is the lower house in the states and union territories of India, much like the Lok Sabha of the Parliament. Members of the Legislative Assembly (legislative body) are directly elected by the people through assembly elections. The term of the Legislative Assembly is five years (unless it is dissolved earlier). A member of a legislative Assembly is referred to as an MLA.
  3. in line with (phrase) – in alignment with, in accordance with, in agreement with.
  4. relatively (adverb) – to a certain extent/degree; comparatively, somewhat.
  5. ranks (noun) – the people belonging to a group.
  6. held past participle of hold (verb) – occupy, have, be in (a position/job).
  7. entrust (verb) – give responsibility for, bestow on, confer on, vest in, grant, hand over.
  8. have one’s task cut out (phrase) – be faced with a tough task/work to do; faced with a lot of hard work to accomplish something.
  9. sectional (adjective) – relating to a section/group within a party.

  30. purview (noun) – limits, bounds, ambit, extent, range, scope.
  31. the fact that (phrase) – used to refer to a specific situation under consideration/discussion.
  32. neighbouring (adjective) – adjacent, adjoining, bordering, abutting.
  33. electorate (noun) – all the people in a country who are eligible to vote in an election.
  34. raft (noun) – a large quantity of something.
  35. welfare (noun) – (noun) – a government program that provides (financial) assistance to individuals and families in need; social security, government/state benefit, public assistance.
  36. underemployment (noun) – it occurs when a person does not work full time and when a job does not use the worker’s skills fully.
  37. affordable (adjective) – inexpensive, cost-effective, reasonable.
  38. infrastructure (noun) – the basic physical or organisational structure or framework that a country or organization needs in order to function properly. For a whole nation, it includes all the physical systems such as buildings, roads & railways networks, utilities, etc.
  39. attention (noun) – recognition, concentration, care, regard, attentiveness, support.
